Jon Ford

Jon is a Philadelphia-based musician whose experience includes performing, composing, arranging, teaching and recording.  Jon is multi-instrumental, having performed on tuba, euphonium, baritone horn, alto and soprano trombone, and even didgeridoo, but is best known for his performances on tenor and bass trombone.

Jon’s musical performance experience ranges from jazz, rock, funk, neo-soul and R&B, to classical music, brass bands and pit orchestras.  Jon is a graduate of  the University of the Arts in Philadelphia holding a Bachelors Degree in Music. He is currently pursuing his Masters degree. Since his freshman year of college, he has been the bass trombonist of the Z Big Band, one of the nation’s top collegiate jazz ensembles.  During his time with the Z Band, they won the Monterey Next Generation College Jazz Festival and performed in the Sixtieth Annual Monterey Jazz Festival.  Jon has performed with notable artists including Robin Eubanks, Joey DeFrancesco, Leo P, Elliot Mason, Brad Mason, Michael Wilbur, and Christian McBride.  Jon also has diverse musical experience having performed with Max Swan, New Sound Brass, Touché the Band, among many others, in addition to leading his own band, Mercury Brass.

Jon began playing trombone with Don’t Call Me Francis in spring of 2019.
