Billy Garrett
Billy was born and raised in Philadelphia. He began singing in the church at a very young age. He first picked up a guitar at age eleven after watching his grandmother play. He gave it a try and is self-taught. Billy is the youngest of ten. With three brothers and six sisters, he was exposed to all types of music. His biggest influences are The Rolling Stones, Sly and the Family Stone and The Beatles.
After five years of self-teaching, Billy got is first professional paying job at sixteen at The Willow Grove Mall. He has been playing professionally for over thirty years learning to play bass guitar along the way.
Equally capable of playing funk, hip-hop, rock, R&B, soul, and reggae – Billy is extremely versatile. His first love is Rock and Motown. Billy has played and recorded with artists like Tony Orlando, Bonnie Rait, Jackson Brown, Jeff Baxter, Wendy Williams, Bill Gibson and many more. Billy has toured around the world, including Europe, Canada, Mexico and throughout the continental United States and Hawaii. He has also appeared on a number of albums. Billy also performed in the Broadway show Jukebox Dreams.
Billy is so grateful to the late Frank Orsini for bringing him on with Don’t Call Me Francis and is honored to share the stage with such great talent. Billy resides in Delaware with his wife and 3 children.
